Warming Spiced Hot Toddy

A delicious spiced hot toddy recipe that will surely warm up these cold winter nights.

 

Packed with powerful antioxidants and nutrients, this blend of herbs and spices has unique warming properties that make it is so effective in warding off colds and flu.

Choose only organic, non-irradiated herbs and spices

 

What you’ll need…

 

  • 2 cups of water
  • ½ cinnamon stick
  • 3 cloves
  • 3 allspice
  • A thumb of fresh ginger root, peeled and roughly chopped
  • 1 whole star anise
  • Seeds from 1 cardamom pod, crushed
  • A pinch of grated nutmeg
  • 1 slice of lemon
  • ½ teaspoon good quality raw honey
  • 1 ounce spirits (rum, brandy, vodka) or 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar

 

How to…

 

Place the water, cinnamon, cloves, allspice, ginger, star anise, cardamom seeds and nutmeg in a small saucepan.

Bring to a boil, reduce the heat and simmer for 25 minutes, covered.

Turn off the heat and let stand for 5 minutes.

In a large cup add the sliced lemon, honey, and spirits or vinegar, if using.

Strain and pour the hot spiced tea in the cup.

If using a glass, then pour the hot spiced tea on a metal spoon to prevent the glass from cracking.

Stir well and enjoy while warm.
