Watermelon & Coconut Juice

Watermelon & Coconut Juice

A refreshing and nutritious watermelon & coconut juice perfect for your summer days

Why is it good for me?

Watermelon

As its name suggests, watermelon has a high water content, perfect to keep us naturally hydrated.

Watermelon is also rich in many vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin A, Bs and C, and potassium.

Its gorgeous red colour comes from lycopene, an important antioxidant with many health benefits. Watermelon contains more lycopene than any other fruit or vegetable, even tomatoes.

The rind and seeds are rich in fibre, which helps reducing our blood pressure.

Coconut Water

Probably the most nutritious natural drink on planet earth, coconut water is super-rich in minerals and nutrients.

Its high content of potassium, magnesium, calcium and sodium makes it a wonderful natural electrolyte drink.

Despite its sweet taste, coconut water also helps in lowering blood sugar levels and blood pressure, it has anti-ulcer properties and much more.

Lemon

Lemon is highly alkalising and one of the most effective and inexpensive fruits for cleansing and detoxifying our body.

Its high content of vitamin C and other antioxidants will also improve our immune system functions and overall health.

Did you know? Lemons produce more juice when kept at room temperature.

Watermelon & Coconut Juice Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 slice of watermelon
  • 1 glass of coconut water, possibly fresh from the green coconut (see note below)
  • juice of half lemon
  • A pinch of good quality sea salt

How to

Chop the watermelon and add it to a blender with all the other ingredients.

If you are using water from a fresh coconut, you can add some coconut meat too, for a more “smoothie-like” consistence.

Blend and enjoy!

Note

You can find green coconuts in many corner shops and local markets nowadays, just look and ask around.

If you buy coconut water in carton, please make sure there are no added ingredients and that the packaging is BPA-free.

You can also omit coconut water altogether and substitute it with natural mineral water or with a cold herbal tea of your choice.
